Since the beginning of the 1980s SMC has channeled Sida funds to our partner organizations for different types of development, information and humanitarian activities.
Today a large part of our office is financed through this work of channeling funds.
SMC is not a fundraising organization. There are three types of revenue for core activities:
Sida support for the channeling of funds, Sida support with own contribution to cover core activities, and membership fees.
The most important source of revenue for most partner organizations is fundraising and donations from members, regular donors and congregations, which represent almost 60 percent of their total programme revenue. Funding from SMC represents approximately a fifth of the total revenues. The remaining funds come from, for example, second hand shops, Radiohjälpen, Postcode Lottery, trusts, business and other state development grants.
Approximately a third of the member organizations cooperate with companies, but this has not yet become a large part of the total revenue.
More than half of the member organizations choose to apply for Sida funding via SMC.
